About ArcFlashStudies.ca

A referral network connecting Ontario employers with qualified arc flash study providers — and a resource for practical guidance on CSA Z462 compliance.

What This Site Is

ArcFlashStudies.ca is an Ontario-focused resource for facility managers, EHS professionals, plant engineers, and operations managers who need arc flash studies for their facilities. The site has two purposes:

  • Practical guidance — articles, guides, and reference pages on CSA Z462 compliance, arc flash study costs, PPE requirements, label requirements, and the arc flash study process. All content is written for Ontario employers and references Ontario-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Provider referrals — connecting Ontario facilities with qualified arc flash study providers through our free cost estimation and referral process. When you submit a cost estimate request, we match your facility profile with qualified engineering providers in your area who have the P.Eng. credentials, IEEE 1584-2018 software, and relevant industry experience for your specific facility type.

How Referrals Work

When you complete the free cost estimator on this site, your facility information is used to generate a cost estimate range and to identify qualified providers in our network who serve your area and facility type. We may share your contact information with one or more of those providers so they can follow up with a detailed proposal.

Providers in our network are vetted for relevant credentials and experience, but we do not guarantee the quality of work performed by referred providers. We encourage all facility managers to verify provider credentials, request references, and compare proposals before engaging.

Provider Vetting Criteria

Providers accepted into the ArcFlashStudies.ca referral network must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Studies performed and PE-stamped by a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario
  • Use of IEEE 1584-2018 calculation methodology (not the 2002 edition)
  • Use of professional-grade power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience with Ontario industrial clients
  • Active professional liability insurance

These criteria represent a minimum baseline. They do not guarantee suitability for every facility type or project scope. For specialized facilities — medium-voltage systems, mining operations under O. Reg. 854, classified area hazardous locations — we recommend explicitly verifying provider experience with your specific facility type.
